Technical Requirements & Support

Required Software

If you’re going to use the site to its’ fullest, you’re gonna need to download some software. Don’t worry, everything’s free:

Web Browsers
If you’re like nearly 80% of all internet users, you’re probably viewing our site with Internet Explorer 6.0, and if you’re doing that, you’re not seeing Selective Service correctly. IE does not comply with modern coding standards, making the page display incorrectly. The most prominent IE bug with Selective Service moves the left column of content down below the right column of content. Other websites you visit probably have similar issues that aren’t as prominent as this one.

Our advice? Upgrade yourself to a truly standards-compliant web browser. Here are the best bets:

Music Players
All of the playlists we create are compatible with Apple’s iTunes, available for both Windows and MacOS. All of the files are mp3 and can be played by any music player software, including Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, WinAmp, etc., but the included playlists are compatible with iTunes only, so we recommend it over the others.:

Downloading & Importing a Playlist into iTunes

  1. Download the ZIP file. To download the file, right-click (PC) or control-click (Mac) on the link and select “Save link as…” or “Save file as…” Save the file somewhere on your computer, like your Desktop or another folder on your hard drive.
  2. Locate the file & unzip it to expand the mp3 files; Double-clicking on the file should unzip it. If that doesn’t work, right-click (PC)/control-click (Mac) the file and select “Expand file” or “Unzip file.” The resuly will be a new folder containing all the mp3s and an XML file (.xml).
  3. Import the mp3s into iTunes; either drag the files into your Library or go through the menu (File -> Import).
  4. Import the XML file through the menu (File -> Import). A new playlist with the files all in the correct order will appear in the left column of itunes.

…and you’re done! Enjoy!

What does it mean when all the songs have a line crossing them out, but the entire playlist still shows it as a link?
I was trying to download Uncle Rudi’s playlist about the NYTimes and all songs were crossed out, but the playlist still looked to be an active link. But when I tried downloading it, it was a no-go.
Have a relaxing Memorial Day. And, Sam, how’s that pinkie treating you?
    Your SauceyLady,
    Linda
